Soap and Glory recently released a dry shampoo, The Rushower, which is available in two different sizes. The smaller travel size, which is 50ml, costs £2.50, with the larger 200ml spray costing £4. Being a fan of Soap and Glory and always on the look out for a good dry shampoo I had to try it. At the time only the smaller size was available but I actually quite like this size, it’s perfect for throwing in a handbag or for travel.
The dry shampoo has the original pink scent, it has a bright citrus and slightly floral scent to me. It’s definitely very perfumey and it reminds me a lot of the Lsuh Snowshowers family of products, that’s a buck’s fizz type scent, for some reason. This dry shampoo has scent release technology that means there are particles that contain scent and the friction from running your hand through your hair is supposed to release the scent, meaning you get the scent a while after you’ve sprayed your hair making it smell fresher for longer. That’s the idea anyway so I was intrigued to see if that would actually work.
I always forget to keep my empties, I start off the month meaning to keep them and then a few weeks in I’ve either forgotten to keep them or got fed up with the clutter and thrown them out. This month, or rather over a month now, I remembered so here’s a post of (almost) everything I used up in April and May so far. I say almost because I’m sure I’ve got rid of some empties just because I forgot.
I didn’t realise until I got them all together how many things I’d actually finished, or how many hand creams I’d had on the go at the same time. I always find that I go ages without finishing anything because they’re big bottle or pots and I’m part way through, but then everything finishes at once so if I did these regularly there would probably be months of a few products going each month and then a big lot like this.
Over the years I’ve tried so many different lip products, I want to like lipsticks and colours but it seemed to take a lot of failures to find the best makes for me. Most of these lip products are from those failures, though again I seem to have a lot from free sets or sets I bought for other products in them. I do love reading declutter posts, there’s something about getting rid of a lot of products that you’re not using that just feels so satisfying and reading and watching others declutter always helps me, though I’m not always the most ruthless.
I did do a bit of a declutter of my eyeliners and you can find the post for that here. As with that post if I’ve done a review or first impressions of any of these lip product I’ll put a link to them. I don’t think I have for many as a lot of these I had before I started my blog two and a half years ago, which shows how old they are and some of them should probably be going on age alone.
I said I was going to declutter and I finally managed to collect everything together and go through it all, some had mysteriously moved to my computer drawer at some point, so I’m going to start on my decluttering posts. I will be posting links to any reviews I’ve already done so you can see better swatches and things and there are some things that I do still like but it was just their time to go.
Today the whole post is eyeliners, some of these posts will probably have a few categories in as I don’t have much of some things, and it has both pencils and liquid, though I only have the one liquid liner I’m getting rid of. I don’t wear eyeliner much apart from bonzes and golds but I seem to keep thinking that I will and so buy them anyway. I am quite happy to say that the majority of these eyeliners were in free gifts like those spend X and get this bag of makeup free type offers so I don’t feel too bad getting rid of them.
I think I’m a bit late when it comes to trying the H&M beauty range, mainly because it’s so hard to find in physical stores near me, so I bought some things in a recent order and have been having a play around with them to see how they work and how well they stand up next to others I’ve tried. Today is the turn of the Micellar Water, which comes in a 150ml bottle for £3.99, not the most expensive but also not as cheap as my standard Soap and Glory which costs £6 for 350ml. All H&M beauty is cruelty free so that means this micellar water is too.
This is mainly a review of the H&M Micellar Water but I have included a bit at the end to compare the two rather than doing it as a separate post.
I’m a big fan of shower jellies, though there don’t seem to be many companies that do them, and a fan of the Soap and Glory brand, especially the Sugar Crush scent, so when they released shower jellies last year I couldn’t wait to try them. I got this for Christmas and have been using it since then and there are definitely some things about it I love.
This is available from Boots, and probably other stockists of Soap and Glory, I just don’t know which they are outside the UK. It costs £5.50 though I can’t see it on the Boots website, they do have it in at least one store near me though so I’m not sure if that’s old stock and it’s not being stocked any more. There is another shower jelly in a different Soap and Glory scent though, Clean On Me, which I think is the original pink scent that you associate with the brand but the consistency is the same.
This is a bit late, it’s definitely taking me a while to recover from Christmas this year, but I wanted to post it as I like reading what other people get for Christmas. It almost feels like I should have titled this the year of Soap and Glory or something as I have quite a bit from them. Though I do often as for the big set when it’s at half price and they last me till next Christmas, I’m not sure how much Soap and Glory I’ve actually bought the past four or five years.
A couple of years ago I bought the Soap and Glory Perfect Ten limited edition eyeshadow palette and I saw the one they brought out this year so I thought I’d buy the newer version too. I know they brought one out last year but my old one has got to the point where I’ve hit pan, for the first time ever in an eyeshadow, so I thought I’d see if the new one is as good as the old. There are some obvious differences, the colours chosen being the main one as the older one is mainly neutrals, this one has more smokey colours, and the fact that over half of the colours are mattes this time around but the range of colours in there still looked good so I gave it a try.
The Perfect Ten eyeshadow palette contains ten eyeshadows in a mix of finishes, there are 6 mattes and four with degrees of shimmer (one of them is probably more of a glitter than shimmer really). It costs £16 from Boots and is in the three for two offer on Christmas gifts. As it’s limited edition I’d say get it before Christmas if you’re interested as they sometimes appear in the sales after but last year they sold out before then.
If anyone’s interested the older one still seems to be on the Boots website, I’m not sure if it’s a permanent line product now maybe as it’s £10 but it does have exactly the same product names so I’m guessing they’re the same formula as the original. My original post on that one is one of my first posts and you can find it here, it does have a review of the colours in there and I’d say the old one is a good palette, it’s still one I use today so it must be doing something right.
With the weather changing here in the UK I’m starting to change my skin care routine to a more autumnal or winter one as my skin tends to need more moisturising products in the winter time. One that I have used in the past, years ago now, and I thought I’d try again is the Soap and Glory Face, Soap and Clarity Vitamin C Facial Wash. As I got this one in a set it isn’t a full sized product and this one has 50ml of the face wash. A full sized version holds 350ml and costs £8 and can be found on the Boots website. It’s one of the products that I’ve seen in every Boots store I’ve been into though so I’d think they’d have it near you if you can get to a Boots.
According to the website this is suitable for all skin types and is a 3-in-1 face wash that smoothes, cleans and purifies, which sounds like most face washes to me. One thing that makes this one different to a lot of other slightly scrubby products is that, although it does have scrubby beads in it these are jojoba beads, not plastic microbeads. This does mean they’re softer and it’s not a scrub so it doesn’t give you the exfoliation of a scrub or exfoliator but if you have sensitive skin, like mine, then you don’t want something that has the harsh scrub effect anyway. They are also a cruelty free company but I don’t think this is a vegan or vegetarian friendly product, it would be best for you to check out the ingredients as a lot are the scientific names and chemicals so I don’t know where they come from.
I did a post on Friday about the empties from last month and there are a few of those products that should probably be in a monthly favourites post too as I used them a lot but I’ve chosen eight different products I’ve been loving this month. I think most of these are a case of finding something I’ve had for a while and loving it but there are a couple of new things I only found this month. It seems a bit odd to include food but the Walkers Sunbites in general are so good. I really like it when companies do a good sweet chilli flavour for crisps things and these have the crunch and a bit of spice without being too hot for me which is always good as I don’t do chilli all that well sometimes.
I feel like in a monthly favourites I have to at least mention Reigns and Hustle Cat as I have really liked both of these games, Reigns in particular is one you pick up and play and lose time in whereas Hustle Cat is more one to sit down and know you’ll play for a while. This month I haven’t really been watching or listening to much that’s new for me to say that I’ve found something different. I have been really liking the heritage series, or whatever they’re calling it, that the BBC are doing where they either remake old series I none offs or they do a prequel or sequel type thing for them. It’s a nice way to revisit older series and give a new twist on them. Robot Wars finished and that was a great series, I hope they bring it back for a second (maybe they have already announced it and I missed it) but that next time it’s longer. I’d love to see some of the robots from earlier series appear, seeing some of them back was nice but I’d love to see the return of ones like Chaos 2, Panic Attack, Pussycat and Razor. They’d have to be updated against the newer robots but seeing some of the old teams back would be nice even if they’re new robots.
