Review: BB Seaweed Lush Fresh Face Mask

bbseaweedheader

BB Seaweed (£7.25 for the 75g pot or free when you return five black or clear pots) is one of Lush‘s older masks. I’m not sure if it’s one of the originals but it was definitely there when I started buying Lush in late 2008 so it’s been around a while. I have tried it quite a few times over the years and it’s one I keep going back to. It’s a clay based mask that you use after cleansing your face and leave on to dry for five to ten minutes before washing off. It does make quite a mess, as any clay based ones seem to, but it does seem to work for me.

As the name suggests one of the main skin benefitting ingredients is seaweed and it’s this ingredient that seems to make this the face mask that’s varied the most batch to batch both in thickness and scent compared to other Lush Fresh Face Masks. As it’s fresh seaweed I would guess individual plants, weather, age and probably other influences can change the strength and consistency of the plants.

Haul: Lush Fresh Face Masks and a Body Mask

freshfacemaskhaulheader.jpg

I have been hoarding Lush black pots for the past eight years, I don’t go into Peterborough very often which is where my local Lush is and do tend to forget them even when I do. Lush have a scheme where, if you take back five of their black or clear pots, and they recently added lip tint tubes to this, you can get a free fresh face mask. Their Hair Doctor product is also included in it, at least I’ve been told it is but I’ve never tried. The face masks are the fresh face masks, the ones kept in I’ve that you have to store in a fridge in the 75g pots. When you buy them they cost £7.25 but you do get a lot of uses out if the one pot.

As my mum and sister went in on Friday I asked them to swap some of the pots I had and they chose two of these as they were recommended them. The ones they were recommended were BB Seaweed and Catastrophe Cosmetic and the two new ones I wanted to try were Rosy Cheeks and Cup O’ Coffee. Unfortunately Cup O’ Coffee is not in this black pot offer though it’s available in different sizes, the largest one is probably the best to get if you plan on using it as a body scrub.

I’ve had quite a few of these over the years, I have tried all of the range before they did recent releases so as two of these face masks are older ones, I’m going to put a review of those two in here. I could do a post on all of them if anyone wants or if you want to know about one of the older ones then I’ll try to answer them.

August Empties: My First Empties Post

sugust2016empties3.jpg

I realise I don’t really do empties posts, that’s mainly because most months I either forget to take photos of my empties (I may have done that with a couple of things this month too) or I just don’t finish off enough product sin a month to be worth doing the post. Most of the products I buy tend to last a long time and they get finished in dribs and drabs but this month it ended up that I finished quite a few things in one go so thought I’d do one. I do like reading these from other people, seeing what people actually would repurchase sometimes helps me decide if it’s a product that I’ on the fence about.

I was planning on combining my monthly favourites with the empties post but it got so long I’m doing it in two, I think the monthly favourites will be on Monday. There are some things in this post that I forgot to photograph, I’m not used to doing these posts. Maybe in the future I’ll keep all my empties and just do them when I get enough to be worth posting rather than setting it as a monthly thing. Anyway, here’s what I finished off this month and whether I’d repurchase them in the future and why. There are a couple of sample products in here but most of them are full sized.

April Favourites: Some Things I Finallly Tried and Loved

Sorry the external links won’t work for this post, this is the fourth time I have tried to post it and it’s crashed my computer each time. I’ll try to add them tomorrow but I just want to get this post up tonight so it’ll be link free for now.

april2016favs1

This month I have mainly been using new things, which is unusual as a lot of the time it seems like my monthly favourites are full of old things I have rediscovered. It’s another big mix of things though I think it’s mainly beauty and accessories and a couple of them probably won’t be surprises if you follow my blog given the reviews I’ve given them recently.

I don’t think there’s been much music that I’ve been listening to really this month, a bit mix of a lot of older albums I found on my old mp3 player that only works when it’s plugged in so it’s been quite a bit of 90s cheese you get at school discos and early 2000s pop punk. TV shows though I have been watching some new things for once, I loved the Night Manager, I thought that Hugh Laurie and Tom Hiddleston were amazing in it and I really liked Tom Hollander too, he was a jerk but for some reason I liked him anyway. No spoilers so I won’t say any more. I also really loved the RSC Shakespeare Live thing that was on the BBC for the 400 year anniversary of Shakespeare’s death. The ‘to be or not to be’ bit made me laugh and I just liked the range that was on there. I have ended up going back to some old favourites like Red Dwarf and NCIS but those two new ones stood out a lot.

Review: Sugar Tinted Lip Treatment in Fig

freshfigliptint2

Recently mum wanted to try the lip serum from Fresh and I kind of got talked into buying the Sugar Tinted Lip Treatment as I’d seen reviews of it but it seemed a bit expensive. It’s one of those things that I’d put in and out of my basket on the Sephora website, though I still haven’t bought anything from there, but didn’t realise that they sold it in the UK. It’s available in a range of colours, I was surprised at how many there are, though they are all lip tints so it’s not very opaque.

I’ve heard a lot of good things about the Sugar Tinted Lip Treatment, I’m not sure how long it’s been since I started to see these reviews pop up but it seems like pretty much everyone who tried it liked it at one point. My lips are pretty chapped a lot of the time, they seem to eat lip balms, and although this is more than I spend on lip products I thought if it works then it’s worth it especially with that added SPF 15 for the summer. I chose the Fig colour as it’s a sort of muted purple, to me it’s a plum colour, though I wasn’t expecting it to be as glittery as it is. It costs £19 on their website and you can choose a number of samples, we got three but this might be because of the amount we spent I’m not sure.
