No7 Free Gift and Mini Boots Haul

summergiftandhaulheader.jpg

I recently made a small order from Boots, mainly because I needed a new mascara so I decided to get two as there’s an offer to get a free set when you buy two which had things I liked the look of in so I got two mascaras and some sheet masks as they were in a great offer. If you like the Boots Ingredients Sheet Masks then now is a great time to buy them, or try them if you’ve been interested but not got them yet, as they’re normally £2.50 but at the moment they’re four for £3 so 75p each which is a great price for any sheet mask in the UK.

The summer gift for No7 has a great mix in it, for me anyway, and you could almost do a full face with it, I’m tempted to try. You get a bronze eyeliner, waterproof mascara, lip gloss and face sun cream so for a beach day with minimal makeup you’re pretty much covered. I haven’t tried some of here before so I’m interested to see what they’re like. These offers tend to last a while, going by past experience, and this one is fairly new but they often run out of stock in actual stores quickly and I think you probably have a month online from when it was first released, it all depends on how long it’s running and I can’t find an end date.

Review: NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk

nyxjumbopencilmilkheader.jpg

When I did a recent Boots order and realised that they sold NYX this Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk (604) was the first thing I had to find. These are available in a range of colours and are a pencil style eye colour, as the name says, but I’ve seen Milk on YouTubers’ videos for years as an eye base. As it’s only £5.50 for the 12g pencil and I have been trying brighter colours I wanted to give this a go and see if it really made much of a difference to the way the eyeshadow turned out and how well it actually worked as a base. I’ve tried a few eye colour pencils before and none of them would be a formula I’d consider suitable for using as an eyeshadow base so I wanted to see how this one was different.

I can’t believe I’ve waited so long to try this. It may sound weird, especially if you’re in the US, as I’ve had this on my wish list for years. I’ve been watching Xsparkage videos for ages and she always seemed to use this as an eyeshadow base so, seeing the price of it in America, I wanted to give it a go but I couldn’t find it in the UK at the time. Fairly recently Boots started stocking NYX products so, of course, I had to add this to my basket when I did a points order.

Review: Real Techniques Eyes Starter Set

RTeyestartersetheader

Real Techniques have recently revamped their range, at least a lot of the sets, so there are a lot available at TK Maxx for a discounted price. This set is the Eyes Starter Set and cost £14.99 so you save £6, over 25%, and it has five brushes in a case that doubles as a stand. If that link doesn’t work then search as it has it listed three times separately. I have to admit that when I first saw these sets when they were first released I was a bit unsure about how useful the stand would actually be but I can see it working now I’ve actually tried it.

The brushes included in the set are all for eye products and it includes a mix of eyeshadow, liner and brow brushes so you really do have everything covered. The five brushes are: Base Shadow Brush, Deluxe Crease Brush, Accent Brush, Fine Liner Brush and Brow Brush. They’re all in the standard style of the Real Techniques brushes, the matte ferrule takes up a lot of the brush and they colour coordinate the eye brushes with purple so they stand out.

Review: No7 Liquid Eyeliner

No7liquidlinerheader

If you read my decluttering post you already know the fate of this eyeliner but I wanted to give it a proper review with some photos. It’s the No7 Stay Perfect Liquid Eyeliner and, although it doesn’t have an official name on the product, I’m guessing it’s called black. I got this product free in one of those bags they do when you buy a certain amount of products and, as I’m not great at eyeliner even without the addition of a liquid and brush, it was nice to get something free to practice my eyeliner technique with.

This can be found in Boots, I think this is a full sized product but I’m not sure. It costs £8.50 so it’s not the cheapest eyeliner out there but it’s in the normal range for a No7 product. It’s available in a range of colours including green, navy, brown and silver.

Decluttering Part One: Eyeliners

decluttereyelinersheader

I said I was going to declutter and I finally managed to collect everything together and go through it all, some had mysteriously moved to my computer drawer at some point, so I’m going to start on my decluttering posts. I will be posting links to any reviews I’ve already done so you can see better swatches and things and there are some things that I do still like but it was just their time to go.

Today the whole post is eyeliners, some of these posts will probably have a few categories in as I don’t have much of some things, and it has both pencils and liquid, though I only have the one liquid liner I’m getting rid of. I don’t wear eyeliner much apart from bonzes and golds but I seem to keep thinking that I will and so buy them anyway. I am quite happy to say that the majority of these eyeliners were in free gifts like those spend X and get this bag of makeup free type offers so I don’t feel too bad getting rid of them.

Review: Real Techniques Eyelining Brush Set

realtechniqueseyelinersetheader

I’ve recently had a bit of a sort out with my makeup brushes, some of them really should have gone a couple of years ago probably but I kept using them anyway. To replace the ones I got rid of I found a couple of sets of Real Techniques makeup brushes on the TK Maxx website, one of them is this Eyelining Set, which it says is a collectors edition but I’m not sure what makes it any different as it seems to be the exact set sold in Boots and other Real Techniques stockists. I think it must be old stock as, although it was available on other sites when I ordered it, it’s not online in any of their normal stockists that I know of.

This set has four brushes in it, each has a different job to create the perfect eyeliner whether it’s a precision line or a smudger brush. It also comes with a small silver pouch which is just long enough for the brushes, I would guess this is designed to be used when you’re travelling but I’ll go into this a bit more later in the review. Most places this seems to have an RRP of either £21.99 or £19.99 though I’m not sure why it varies. It’s still available on TK Maxx for £14.99 along with other Real Techniques brushes. If you want any of their brushes it’s worth checking on there or your local TK Maxx if they have a decent beauty section as you get the discount but TK Maxx doesn’t sell fakes. I didn’t realise fake Real Techniques brushes was a thing until recently but it’s definitely worth sticking with a reputable buyer if you want them.

Review: Models Own All About Eyes Eyeliner Set

Sorry this is a bit later than I meant it to be guys. I had problems with the website not loading the pictures in the right places but it seems to be working now, I’m crossing my fingers it is anyway!

allabouteyesheader

In a recent online shopping trip on the TK Maxx website I found a set of Models Own eyeliners for £7.99. They’re still available on the Models Own website at £20 so there’s a saving of £12.

I have had a brown eyeliner on my to buy list when I went to use my old one and found it was less a pencil more of a stub that’s hard to use and I do like a brown eyeliner pencil. I’m also wanting to try some Colouring eyeliners, I’ve always loved the look but not wanted to spend money on the eyeliners in case I don’t like them. As this set has eight pencil eyeliners in it, including a brown, gold and white which I will use, it was like getting those free compared to the individual price of most eyeliners I like.

Review: Eyeko London Skinny Eyeliner Pen in Pitch Black

I’ve never been great with eyeliner, especially liquid eyeliner, but I do keep trying to learn as I love the cat eye looks and the precision you get with a liquid so I am always happy when I get one in a free set or as part of a gift. In the Marks and Spencer advent calendar one of the gifts was a mini version of the Eyeko London Skinny Liquid Eyeliner in Pitch Black. I have had a play around with it, though the cat eye look is still elusive, so I thought I’d do a proper review. This one is a mini at 1.2g but the full sized one is 2g and costs £12 from the Marks and Spencer website.

I don’t think this is a new product, it seems to have been around for a while, but as I’ve tried a few liquid eyeliners over the years I’m always interested to see the ones other people have liked or disliked so thought it might be interesting to someone. I seem to be good at finding things years after they’re released. Does anyone else find that they find something they think is great and new and everyone else already knows all about it?

Advent 2016: Day 6!

Day six has the first real makeup thing from the Marks and Spencer advent calendar with the Eyeko Skinny Liquid Liner in black. I don’t use eyeliner much, I’m not very good at it, but it’s something I want to get better at so maybe this one will help, I haven’t tried many felt tip ones. The Ciate Mini Mani Month has Lucky 7 which is another Gelology one. The Yankee Candle tea light is the final scent, Cosy By the Fire, which means from now on they’re duplicates. I am definitely doing a proper full review on the Eyeko eyeliner, I haven’t tried it before and it’s always interesting to see how well eyeliners last.

What I Have in My Travel Makeup Bag

travelmakeup1

I did a post about the things I took in my makeup bag for travel over a year ago but I thought I’d do another after going away last week. Some of the things I didn’t use but it’s going to be the same things I’m taking away for family meetups and things in the lead up to Christmas so it seemed like a good time to post one anyway. I’m not normally too bad at packing light when it comes to makeup but I was surprised when I unpacked it all how much I took this time. I tend to go for taking only a few kinds of products but a range of colours in them.

I think that most of these things I’ve posted a review for so I’ll link it if I have so there’s a more in depth post on them and proper swatches if you’re interested in them. Almost everything is still available in stores, I think only the eyeliners might be hard to find but I haven’t found any that I like as much, I am on the lookout for a nice soft bronzey or gold colour if anyone has any suggestions though.
